About QBCC

As Queensland's independent building and construction regulator, we play a critical role in protecting people, supporting industry and building trust in a system that touches every part of our community, from safe homes and liveable communities to jobs and economic security. We support a $69 billion industry by protecting consumers, ensuring the industry is well supported, providing a safety net through the Home Warranty Scheme, and proactively delivering education.

A thriving building and construction industry benefits us all. But it only works when people feel informed, enabled and protected. That's where we come in. We support industry, protect consumers and uphold standards. We make fair and transparent decisions, deliver services that build trust, and support a strong, sustainable industry.

 About the role

In this senior leadership role, you will work collaboratively across the division to understand branch priorities, strengthen enterprise investment decision making, ensure transparent and consistent reporting of benefits and establish fit-for-purpose delivery standards that enable the project delivery branch. You will lead the operation of key governance forums, including the Portfolio Investment Committee, ensuring investment, prioritisation and delivery decisions are transparent, evidence-based and aligned to organisational objectives.

You will oversee portfolio definition processes from intake and assessment through to categorisation and prioritisation, while governing the development and review of investment snapshots, business cases and authority to proceed documentation. With a strong focus on benefits realisation, you will ensure investments deliver intended outcomes, measurable value and meaningful transformation for QBCC.

The role also leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of investment lifecycle frameworks, methodologies, standards and tools across project, program, portfolio and change delivery. Your leadership will help uplift delivery maturity, support consistent practices and build confidence in QBCC's transformation agenda.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic, collaborative and outcomes-focused leader who can build trusted relationships, provide high-quality executive advice and lead a high-performing team to deliver transformation outcomes that support a thriving building and construction industry.

About you

You are a strategic and collaborative leader with extensive experience in portfolio management, transformation, EPMO or similar environments. You bring a strong understanding of investment governance, prioritisation, assurance and benefits realisation, with the ability to translate organisational strategy into clear delivery priorities and practical frameworks.

You are confident operating in complex environments and can provide trusted advice to executives, governance forums and senior stakeholders. Your communication style is clear, considered and influential, enabling you to build strong relationships, simplify complexity and support fair, transparent and evidence-based decisions.

You are a dynamic leader able to uplift capability and driving continuous improvement across project, program, portfolio and change delivery practices. With a growth mindset and an enterprise focus, you will help strengthen delivery maturity and ensure QBCC's transformation investments deliver meaningful outcomes and value.
