About us:
Access Services is a large directorate within the Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drug Service providing responsive acute mental health care in the community, often as the first point of contact/access into the public mental health service. Teams include the QAS and QPS Co-Responder and associated emergency services interface. The broader Acute Care Team is comprised of Acute Care Team – Treatment (ACT) and the Centralised Intake Service MH CALL (CIS MH CALL).
The Acute Care Team are responsible for provision of community based acute mental health presentations, including those with elevated risk of suicide, mental health relapse, crisis and distress presentations, as well as 7 day follow ups on discharge from the Emergency Department in Cairns and from the AAMHIS for those not connected to a Continuing Care Team (CCT). CIS MH CALL is a tele-triage hub that provides tele- mental health services functioning as the public's first point of contact for crisis mental health presentations. Comprehensive tele-triage and assessments identify acuity, risks and appropriate response. Staff rotate between both arms of the Acute Care Team ensuring skill development and competence in intake, triage, assessment, brief intervention, risk assessment and acute mental health presentations. Note that you may be deployed to other areas within your scope as required.

About your opportunity:
In this position you will…
- Comply with timely and accurate input and collection of consumer related demographic information, diagnosis, outcomes collections and provision of service activity into relevant electronic databases.
- Maintain the currency of high-quality clinical practice knowledge, quality activities, skills and expertise by actively contributing to professional development, education, supervision.
- Proactively contribute to and embrace opportunities associated with changes to clinical service delivery.
- Deliver high quality tele-triage, risk/mental health assessments, treatments, investigations and short-term interventions for consumers presenting with acute episodes of mental illness.
- Assist members of the public to navigate appropriate care pathways to meet their needs.
