Deputy Principal - Norfolk Island Central School

As Deputy Principal (Secondary), you will play a key role in leading the school’s educational vision, supporting high standards of student and staff performance and contributing to a comprehensive student support program that responds to the changing needs
of students. You will work closely with the Principal, staff, students and the wider community, and will deputise for the Principal when required.
This is an opportunity for an experienced and highly capable educational leader to make a genuine
difference in a close-knit community, while embracing the unique opportunities and responsibilities that come with leading in an island school setting.
This role is offered on a full-time temporary bases until 10 December 2027, unless otherwise
determined.

About us:
From 2022, the Queensland Department of Education commenced delivery of educational services on Norfolk Island on behalf of the Australian Government. We are looking for an experienced and highly capable Deputy Principal (Secondary) to complement the existing workforce.
As Norfolk Island is a very close-knit community you will not only be a critical part of the success of the school but be able to demonstrate commitment to supporting strong community engagement activities. The successful applicant will contribute towards and be accountable for the provision of a comprehensive student support program that is responsive to the identified and changing needs of students enrolled at the school.
Norfolk Island Central School is located approximately 1400 km east of Byron Bay in the South Pacific. Since 2022, the Queensland Department of Education has delivered educational services on Norfolk Island on behalf of the Australian Government. Our school caters for approximately 280 students from Prep to Year 12 and takes great pride in delivering high-quality educational and wellbeing outcomes.
Guided by the school motto Play the Game, and values of respect, responsibility, resilience and honesty, our staff work in close partnership with the community to offer a broad curriculum that includes academic, sporting and cultural opportunities.
Our school embraces the island's unique historical traditions and proudly teaches Norfolk Language and Culture across Prep to Year 10, helping preserve local heritage for future generations. Staff work with significant levels of dedication and commitment, to serve our students and community.

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
• Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
• Deputise for the Principal when required.
• Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
• Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
• Set high standards for student and staff performance.
• Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
• Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
