Queensland Parliament is seeking dedicated and professional Parliamentary Security Officers to provide high-quality protective security services across the Parliamentary Precinct. As the first point of contact for many visitors, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service while contributing to a safe, secure and welcoming environment for Members, staff, contractors and visitors.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-profile environment where professionalism, communication skills, sound judgement and teamwork are essential. Experience in CCTV monitoring and control room operations is highly regarded, but training can be provided for the right candidates who demonstrate a strong customer service focus and willingness to learn.

Key Objectives

  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Provide professional, service-oriented protective security services across the precinct.
  • Support safe access, monitoring and incident response activities.
  • Contribute to a welcoming and secure experience for all precinct users.

Your Role

  • Maintain a visible, professional and approachable security presence across the precinct.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service and assistance to Members, staff, visitors and contractors.
  • Operate access control points, screening areas and visitor entry points.
  • Monitor CCTV, alarms, access systems and control room operations.
  • Conduct patrols, building checks and security observations.
  • Respond to incidents, emergencies and requests for assistance in a calm and professional manner.
  • Support parliamentary sittings, events and public visits with a strong customer-focused approach.
  • Assist with emergency management activities, including evacuations and first aid response.
  • Prepare accurate incident reports, logs and handover documentation.
  • Liaise effectively with Members, staff, visitors, contractors and emergency services.
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement activities.

What We're Looking For

  • A strong commitment to customer service and the ability to engage positively with a diverse range of people.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles, security, hospitality, public service or similar environments.
  • CCTV monitoring and control room experience is highly regarded but not essential, as training can be provided.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to assess situations and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in dynamic or challenging situations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Willingness to work across varied shifts, including nights, weekends and parliamentary sitting periods.
  • Strong written communication skills for reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to quickly learn parliamentary procedures, security systems and operational protocols.
