Role details

The Care In The Right Setting at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

  • The Clinical Nurse Consultant is accountable at an advanced practice level for the coordination of clinical practice delivered within the Care in the Right Setting Service.
  • The Clinical Nurse Consultant is responsible and accountable for the effective management of a quality portfolio and associated supportive activities to facilitate the achievement of care standards prescribed within the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
  • The Care in the Right Setting staffing model includes Senior Medical Officers (Rural Generalist), Nurse Unit Manager/Services Coordinator (NG7), Nurse Practitioners (NG8) and Nursing Staff (G5/G6/G7).

About the Team

Care in the Right Setting is an Integrated Model consisting of Hospital in the Home (HiTH), Geriatric Emergency Management Rehab-Hospital in the Home (GEMR-HiTH), Geriatric Emergency Department Intervention (GEDI), Residential Aged Care Support Service (RaSS), Interim care, and other Hospital Optimisation / Substitution services, with the expressed aim to provide medical, nursing, and allied health care to patients in an appropriate setting. Patients receive quality care that is tailored to their individual needs.

Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,500 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
