Role details

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Dietitian Advanced (Food Services) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

Using advanced level nutrition and dietetic clinical food service management and consultancy skills you will be responsible for the advancement and delivery of high-quality food services to stakeholders and consumers within the MHHS to achieve excellence in patient care, while fostering and promoting sustainability, education, and research in this area.

This includes:

  • demonstrating advanced clinical skills, expertise, and leadership in clinical food services.
  • providing service wide nutrition and dietetic clinical and professional advice on optimal service delivery models in food services including taking a lead role in the ensuring a consistent approach across all facilities in the provision of meals to ensure alignment with relevant standards and accreditation requirements.
  • supplying strategic direction regarding clinical food service systems in accordance with health service planning and statewide priorities, including the interface of digital programs where appropriate, and the utilisation of clinical and food service activity data.
  • the requirement to undertake MHHS district wide clinical food service oversight and support including site visits to all MHHS acute, subacute and MPHS facilities to ensure equity in food service delivery and outcomes. These visits will involve collaboration with operational and clinical staff in the promotion of the importance of evidence based best practice food services.

About the Team

Our Nutrition and Dietetics Service delivers care to patients, both children and adults, throughout our hospital departments as well as in outpatient, community and rural settings. As experts in nutrition, our Dietitians provide education and practical support to enable patients to make dietary choices that will maximise their health and wellbeing. The Nutrition and Dietetic Department also:

  • Facilitates practical placements for student dietitians and on the job training for new graduates;
  • Undertakes quality improvement activities, and contributes to research and advancement of best practice nutrition care;
  • Provides expert guidance and support to Foodservice operations at each hospital facility.
