What if your next project helped create jobs, support economic growth or deliver infrastructure that communities rely on every day?

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of complex, high-value capital works projects from planning and feasibility through to completion. Working within Major Projects, you will play an important role in delivering public infrastructure while contributing to the department's broader purpose of creating thriving communities and supporting Queensland's built environment.

This is a role for someone who enjoys taking ownership, building strong partnerships and turning complex challenges into successful outcomes. You will bring together clients, consultants, contractors and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and with lasting value.

In this role, you will:
- Lead the delivery of major capital works projects from initiation through to final handover.
- Build productive relationships with clients, stakeholders, consultants and contractors to achieve project outcomes.
- Establish and manage project governance arrangements, risks and approvals.
- Monitor project performance and provide clear advice on progress, costs, risks and quality outcomes.
- Lead negotiations and influence decisions to achieve value-for-money solutions.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules and delivery programs to ensure objectives are met.
- Spend time on site to stay connected to project progress and resolve issues proactively.
- Contribute to continuous improvement opportunities across government building and construction services.
- Provide accurate, strategic advice to senior decision-makers on project risks, issues and opportunities.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to future project success.

You will be successful if you can confidently manage projects of significant value, balance strategic thinking with practical delivery, and maintain strong relationships across a diverse stakeholder environment.

We're looking for someone who can:

- Lead and manage complex capital works projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness and confidently engage with consultants and contractors.
- Provide high-quality strategic advice and recommendations to a range of stakeholders.
- Communicate with clarity, influence and professionalism, both verbally and in writing.
- Identify and manage risks while maintaining focus on project outcomes.
