Your new role:

As a Clinical Nurse in the Cardiac Cath Lab, you'll provide expert, person-centred nursing care to patients requiring complex interventional, electrophysiological and structural cardiac procedures. You'll work autonomously while providing clinical leadership across practice, education, research and service improvement.

You will:

  • Provide advanced clinical assessment, care planning and coordination for patients with complex cardiac needs.
  • Deliver expert nursing care across interventional, electrophysiological and structural cardiac procedures.
  • Provide clinical leadership, support decision-making and guide the healthcare team in complex situations.
  • Coordinate staff and resources, support rostering and workplace culture, and provide leadership in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager.

About you:

You're an experienced Registered Nurse with advanced clinical knowledge and strong critical thinking skills, ready to provide specialist leadership in a highly technical and rapidly evolving interventional cardiology environment.

You will bring:

  • Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in interventional and electrophysiological cardiology nursing.
  • Strong assessment, planning, coordination, problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills.
  • The ability to provide effective clinical leadership through delegation, communication, mentoring and role modelling.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice, education, research, quality improvement and patient safety.

About us:

The Cardiac Catheter Laboratory Unit (CCL) at the Princess Alexandra hospital operates between 0700 – 1830 hours Monday to Friday and provides 24-hour emergency coverage. The unit consists of three labs catering to an outpatient, inpatient and acute/emergent workload. It is a major tertiary referral centre for Metro South and Southwest Hospital and Health Services, serving a population of approximately 1,000,000. The public tertiary level cardiac services provided here include Coronary angiography, Percutaneous coronary intervention, Structural heart disease intervention, Electrophysiology, ICD, CRT, and Pacemaker implantation. The unit is staffed by a multidisciplinary team and includes Interventional Cardiovascular RNs, Support Officers, Cardiac Physiologists, Radiographers, Administration Officers and Medical staff. The CCL nursing team are active in other areas including Magnet, Quality Improvement, Occupational health and safety, Infection Control, Manual Handling, BLS and ALS. There is also an active education programme covering all aspects of cardiac, diagnostic, and interventional procedures.
