What your day could look like

As an Advanced Social Worker, you'll play an important role in improving outcomes for patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams across the health service. From guiding complex care decisions to strengthening professional practice, you'll work with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, person-centred support that creates lasting impact.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Providing advanced clinical expertise for complex and sensitive situations, helping patients and families navigate challenges and access the support they need.
  • Partnering with clinicians, leaders, and service providers to achieve positive outcomes and coordinated care across the patient journey.
  • Leading quality improvement initiatives that enhance social work practice, strengthen service delivery, and support better experiences for patients.
  • Building capability across the workforce through clinical supervision, mentoring, education, and professional leadership.

Let's Talk About You

You're a compassionate and confident social work professional who combines expert clinical judgement with a genuine commitment to people. You lead with integrity and have the courage to navigate complexity while supporting others to succeed. You take pride in creating positive change and helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes. You're not here to simply maintain services, you're here to improve them and make a meaningful difference.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Extensive experience managing complex social work matters using advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and support the development of clinicians and teams.

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have postgraduate study relevant to social work practice and/or experience leading service improvement initiatives in complex healthcare environments.

Together, you'll help deliver exceptional care, strengthen practice, and create meaningful impact for the communities we serve.
