The Stores Supervisor will support the Woodford Youth Detention Centre (WYDC) through the management of inventory within the warehouse and sourcing ad-hoc requests through existing supplier arrangements. The role will gain exposure to a variety of procurement processes.

About the Centre

Situated in Woodford, Moreton Bay, the centre is well connected to Brisbane and surrounding areas via major highways and public transport, making it accessible to families, staff and services.

It features holistic and functional design elements which aim to support rehabilitationof youth and enhance community safety.

Key features include:

  • 112 beds, split across two 56-bed campuses with shared facilities
  • Smaller, home-like accommodation units (8 or fewer beds per unit) to foster collaboration between young people, staff, and stakeholders
  • Consultation and treatment rooms
  • Multipurpose spaces for education, skills development, and training
  • Areas for physical activity and green spaces
  • Dedicated spaces for cultural connection, faith, and spiritual support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Coordinate and oversee all stores ordering, purchasing, and supply inventory in accordance with the Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support Financial Management Practices Manual and quality assurance provisions, including coordination of the quarterly stores stocktake processes (Agency Procurement Procedures).
  • Supervise the Stores Officers to ensure an efficient and cost-effective warehousing and delivery service is provided to the youth detention centres.
  • Implement, maintain and evaluate all stores management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations, including training staff on correct lifting techniques and coordinating appropriate storage and handling practices for goods with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Maintain effective supplier and stakeholder relationships to ensure service delivery excellence and report supplier performance to your line supervisor to support effective purchasing and contract performance.
  • Maintain efficient and accountable computerised financial and inventory management systems, manage low-value, low-risk purchasing activities from existing supplier arrangements, and administer staff uniforms in line with departmental procedures
