About QBCC

As Queensland's independent building and construction regulator, we play a critical role in protecting people, supporting industry and building trust in a system that touches every part of our community, from safe homes and liveable communities to jobs and economic security.

We support a $69 billion industry by protecting consumers, ensuring the industry is well supported, providing a safety net through the Home Warranty Scheme, and proactively delivering education.

A thriving building and construction industry benefits us all. But it only works when people feel informed, enabled and protected. That's where we come in.

We support industry, protect consumers and uphold standards. We make fair and transparent decisions, deliver services that build trust, and support a strong, sustainable industry.

About the role

Leading the Internal Review Unit, you'll oversee a team responsible for reviewing a wide range of administrative decisions under demanding statutory timeframes. With more than 100+ cases flowing through the unit each month and 50 types of administrative decisions that are subject to review, you'll need the judgement, resilience and people leadership skills to sustain the momentum of the team.

You'll coach review officers and technical specialists through complex issues, manage competing demands and support your team through the challenges that naturally arise in a busy, high-accountability environment. Success won't be measured by the number of decisions completed, but by your ability to build a capable, confident and high-performing team that consistently delivers fair and timely outcomes.

About you

You are a resilient leader who brings out the best in people, navigating competing priorities, complex challenges and high expectations with confidence and sound judgement.

Drawing on your experience leading teams that make administrative decisions, ideally within a regulatory environment, you excel at balancing competing priorities, developing and coaching individuals with diverse working styles, and navigating sensitive or challenging situations with confidence, professionalism and sound judgement. Your ability to interpret and apply legislation is matched by your talent for communicating complex information clearly, producing well-reasoned decisions, reports and advice that stand up to scrutiny. An emotionally intelligent leader, you can maintain momentum, build capability and lead with confidence in a busy and complex environment.
