About the role

As the Nurse Unit Manager - Outpatients, you will provide advanced clinical and operational leadership across the outpatient service, supporting the delivery of safe, high quality and person-centred care to the Mount Isa and wider North West Queensland community. Leading a team of approximately 8 FTE, you will bring strong clinical judgement, people leadership and operational expertise to coordinate daily service delivery, workforce and resources while driving quality improvement and contemporary practice.

  • Lead and support the Outpatients nursing team, fostering a positive, capable and inclusive workplace culture focused on professional development, education and best practice.
  • Oversee daily operations, patient flow, workforce planning and resource management across a diverse range of outpatient clinics and services.
  • Drive quality and service improvement, using evidence, data, clinical governance and contemporary practice to improve patient outcomes and the delivery of outpatient services.

Working with us

    • For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,695. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$11,085; and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,390 (pro rata for part time employees).

In your downtime, we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your recreation leave.

    • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
    • Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual.
    • Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.

Plus 2 weeks p.a., travel as required and enrolment and conference costs for approved courses and conferences.

We also offer staff accommodation (if eligible) or a private rental subsidy of AUD$82.50 per week for up to 17 months.

Requirements

      • Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
      • A post graduate qualification or currently enrolled in a post graduate program in a relevant area of study is highly desirable.
      • The position may involve travel to various facilities or units within the North West Hospital and Health Service.
      • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
      • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
      • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
      • A period of probation may apply.
