Senior Educator (Communications)

The Senior Educator (Communications) is responsible for the design, delivery, monitoring and maintaining the currency of a wide range of Communications learning and development activities for Student Communications staff across the QAS and to assist the Operations Centres to achieve similar outcomes for existing staff. The position works in partnership with the State Communications Development Unit (SCDU), Operations Centre Managers, District Managers, Professional Development Units, QAS Management and staff across QAS in the support and delivery of services aimed at improved and individual and organisational performance.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and skills in the use of Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and all QAS Operations Centre technologies and the policies and procedures associated with the functions of a contemporary mission critical communications centre.
  • Demonstrated high level ability to design, develop, deliver and validate learning and development materials.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and understanding of Registered Training Organisation (RTO) compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated superior consultation, interpersonal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to liaise effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including students, QAS management and staff, health care professionals, clients and external bodies.
  • Demonstrated superior knowledge of the requirements associated with service delivery in an emergency medical system focused on patient and client satisfaction and improved patient outcomes and a strong commitment to the provision of high quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated high level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills as evidenced by the ability to successfully research, develop and implement effective learning and development strategies to achieve required educational outcomes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to implement practices which promote a fair and ethical workplace,Sneiot employment equity, cultural diversity and occupational health and safety.

Mandatory/Special conditions/Other requirements

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

  • Applicants must have a minimum of a Certificate IV in Ambulance Communications- Dispatch, or equivalent; or the ability to rapidly acquire this qualification through recognition of current competencies or recognition of prior learning processes.
  • Possession of Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116), or a diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education.
  • Possession of a current QAS Certificate of Practice in Ambulance Communications.
  • Applicants must have successfully completed and loaded to the QAS Learning Management System (LMS) their Annual Skills validations in Call Taking (A4ECC06) and Dispatch (A4EDC06) within the last 12 months.
  • In order to meet RTO requirements, relevant qualifications and experience in vocational education and training (VET) or the ability to rapidly acquire relevant qualifications, and/or higher education qualifications will be an advantage.
  • Whilst not mandatory, experience in desktop design packages such as Adobe Creative Suite, i.e. InDesign, Audition, Articulate 360, Storyline, Rise 360 and Microsoft Office 365 will be highly regarded.
  • Some intrastate travel may be required.
  • Position may require participation in shift work (including weekends and public holidays), on-call duties and undertake overtime.
