Geriatric and Rehabilitation Services is a purpose-built 16-bed service where specialist rehabilitation medicine sits at the heart of helping older people navigate complex health challenges, regain function and reconnect with life beyond hospital.
This is a chance to lead, teach and shape rehabilitation care across CQ - from guiding medical teams and complex clinical decisions to influencing service improvement, research and education. You’ll be supported to keep growing too, with 3.6 weeks’ Professional Development Leave each year and $22,145 in PD Allowance.

About us:
Geriatric and Rehabilitation Services (GARS) delivers specialised, interdisciplinary care for patients requiring rehabilitation and geriatric support across Central Queensland. Based in a purpose-built 16-bed facility in Rockhampton, the service provides care across inpatient, ambulatory and outreach settings, supporting patients through different stages of their rehabilitation and recovery. GARS brings together a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated care across these settings.
About the role:
- Deliver specialist rehabilitation medicine to older people with complex medical and rehabilitation needs, across inpatient and ambulatory settings.
- Lead clinical care and decision-making, including supervision of treating teams, expert input to Emergency Department presentations and supporting patient flow and bed capacity.
- Provide clinical leadership and develop medical staff, supervising Registrars, PHOs and junior doctors while supporting performance, development and best practice.
- Work across the multidisciplinary and community continuum, building strong partnerships to support coordinated care and better outcomes for older people across Central Queensland.
- Drive education, innovation and knowledge sharing, contributing to staff and medical student teaching, research, clinical improvement and ongoing professional development.
About you:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery / Fellowship of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (FAFRM), specialist registration/eligibility.
- Proven ability to lead assessment, admission, ongoing management, transfer and discharge of patients with complex rehabilitation needs.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, sound clinical judgement and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement, evidence-based practice and creating opportunities for research and education within Rehabilitation Medicine.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $564,939 p.a. is comprised of:
- A salary rate between $223,136 - $259,187 p.a. (L18 – L24)
- A salary rate between $266,839 - $282,912 p.a. (L25 – L27)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
