About the opportunity

The Allied Health Assistant is a key member of the multidisciplinary team. Together with other allied health professionals, you will work under a delegated model of practice to achieve consumer-focussed outcomes and provide targeted interventions to optimise function and improve quality of life.

You will contribute to patient care by providing administrative and clinical assistance to allied health professionals in their day-to-day clinical duties. You will work under the supervision and direction of the AHP and undertake only those clinical tasks delegated. 

The successful applicant will work at the Interim Bed Unit (IBU), Eventide, Charters Towers. The IBU unit operates as a virtual inpatient ward and aims to improve patient flow through the Townsville University Hospital. Care provision in interim is on a temporary basis.  The objective is to maintain patients' functional capacity and finalise access to long term permanent care beds.   We aim to provide patients with dignity, choice, and control as they progress from community into permanent residential aged care facilities.

Requirements:

  • While not mandatory, a Certificate IV – Allied Health Assistant would be well regarded. Evidence of any qualifications must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of duties.
  • Required only for Eventide, Hughenden and Richmond based roles: National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check: As a Health Care worker in Queensland Health who engages in risk-assessed roles, you must hold a current disability check (Yellow Card or Yellow Card Exemption) or an NDIS worker screening check, in accordance with Part 5 of the Disability Services Act 2006 (Qld).
  • Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. 5.1.
  • Driver Licence: This position requires the applicant to possess an appropriate license to operate a Class C (car) motor vehicle. 
  • This is a VPD risk role.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $2624.50 - $2762.00 p.f. (CA3)
  • Locality allowance
  • 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata) with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
