Golden Beach State School is seeking an enthusiastic Schools Officer, Grounds & Facilities to join our team full-time.
Set in a beautiful coastal location, this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has a range of handy maintenance skills and genuinely enjoys mowing — because there is plenty of it! You'll play an important role in maintaining and improving our extensive grounds, gardens and facilities
and helping us provide a safe, welcoming and well-presented environment for our students, staff and community.

About us:
Golden Beach State School was opened in 1983. In this time we have gained an excellent reputation attributed to many things but in particular to the genuine commitment by staff, students and parents to the pursuit of educational excellence.
With its attractive setting our school has grown to over six hundred students. A learning, caring and sharing environment has been forged through a partnership of teacher effort, parent support and student application.

Your opportunity:
As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of grounds and facilities to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate.
You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature. However, the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature.
Responsibilities:
- General duties: Mail, deliveries, printing, room setup, moving furniture, stores and stock management.
- Security: Maintain security systems, lock/unlock buildings and deposit school funds.
- Cleaning & waste: Clear drains/gutters, collect waste, manage rubbish and assist with major events.
- WHS: Maintain a safe workplace, safely handle chemicals/fuel and maintain equipment records.
- Maintenance: Repair and maintain buildings, furniture, equipment, locks, windows and swimming pools (where applicable).
- Communication: Liaise with school management, staff, students, tradespeople and contractors.
- Grounds: Maintain ovals, lawns, gardens and sporting facilities; mow, water, weed and fertilise.
- Equipment: Maintain and service mowers, brush cutters, tractors and other grounds equipment.
- Agriculture: Assist in the field laboratory where required.
