Resources Safety and Health Queensland is seeking a coal mining professional to help educate, inform and regulate mine safety at Queensland coal mines.

As an Inspector of Mines, you will provide technical advice on a range of mining safety and health matters to industry, the government, and the community - in particular, on aspects relating to mining operations at underground coal mines.

Essential / desirable requirements

  • A Queensland Third Class Certificate of Competency for underground coal mines with enough experience to sit for a Second-Class Certificate of competency is essential.
  • A Second-Class Certificate of competency with enough experience to sit the First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency for underground coal mines, would be highly regarded.
  • A First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency for underground coal mines, or an underground coal Mine Managers' certificate of competency recognised in Queensland, would be the ideal qualification for the role.
  • A Site Senior Executive Notice recognised in Queensland, and/or mining degree/qualification from a tertiary institution as recognised by the Board of Examiners would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior technical or operational position at an underground coal mine would be highly regarded.

Qualifications

If your qualification is from an overseas institution, you are responsible for obtaining official recognition to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework. You will be required to provide a certified copy of your qualification assessment prior to engagement.
