Guidance Officer - Taabinga State School (Cluster)

The Wellbeing Workforce initiative has been established to support Queensland state schools and their students. The additional wellbeing professionals provided through this initiative will ensure every Queensland state school student has access to support for their wellbeing at school. As part of this initiative, we are seeking Guidance Officers (Wellbeing) for the Kingaroy area. This role is based at Taabinga State School providing the service to a circuit of schools, including Guidance Officers are supported with access to fleet vehicles and subsidised housing.

Please note this cluster role is offered on a temporary full-time basis until 12 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

Your opportunity:

The Guidance Officer (Wellbeing) role is a specialised guidance role, with a particular focus on therapeutic support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns.

The role will deliver a range of services to the school community, with a key aspect being to provide counselling and structured wellbeing supports to students.

The Guidance Officer (Wellbeing) will support students with a range of personal and social issues, such as addressing mental health concerns, managing peer and family relationships and improving engagement with schooling. 

With this specific focus on wellbeing support, the Guidance Officer (Wellbeing) has a narrower focus of the Guidance Officer role.  The Guidance Officer (Wellbeing) works closely with Principals, leadership teams, community agencies and the student support team, including other Guidance Officers within the school.
