About the role

As the Staff Specialist or Senior Staff Specialist - Urology, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver specialist clinical care while contributing to teaching, research, service improvement and clinical governance initiatives. You will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients with complex urological conditions, ensuring care is delivered safely, effectively and in accordance with contemporary best practice. This role also provides opportunities to supervise and mentor junior medical staff, support surgical education and participate in multidisciplinary case review and quality improvement activities.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Manage the performance appraisal and development of subordinate staff
  • Provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisational goals.
  • Initiate and be responsible for the clinical care of patients while in the Urology Department
  • Arrange patient management in accordance with the best interests of the patient.
  • Consult with other hospital staff as required with respect to patient management and related issues.
