We are a small rural school with big opportunities for our local young people. Located halfway between Emerald and Clermont, just off the Gregory Highway, Capella State High School was established in 1989 to service the local agricultural and mining communities. Your opportunity:
As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of grounds and facilities to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate.
You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature. However, the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature.
Although this advertisement is for a full time position (38 hrs pw), days and hours can be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day school support, including mail, deliveries, furniture, stores, equipment and events.
- Support school security, including security systems, building access and banking.
- Maintain a clean, safe and well-presented school environment.
- Undertake general repairs, maintenance and servicing of school facilities and equipment.
- Maintain grounds, gardens, ovals and outdoor sporting facilities.
- Safely use, store and maintain tools, machinery, chemicals and other equipment.
- Monitor workplace health and safety requirements and report hazards.
- Liaise with school staff, students, contractors and other stakeholders on maintenance and facility matters.
- Order and manage grounds, cleaning and maintenance supplies.
- Support agricultural activities and the field laboratory where required.
