The Security Manager is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of people and property across selected Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CHQHHS) facilities, including fire safety. This role manages security operations across the Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH) precinct, delivering a high standard of service to staff, patients, and visitors, while ensuring compliance with CHQHHS policies and procedures

About the Role

In this role you will create systems to sustain high quality delivery for children, young people and families (Leader of Leaders) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

• Lead the security team by setting clear expectations for high standards of conduct and optimising the management of human and physical resources to ensure effective, efficient, and timely service delivery in line with individual site requirements, while supporting overall team performance.
• Possess a combination of effective leadership, organisational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills to effectively guide the team and contribute to the success of the organisation through a positive and collaborative team culture.
• Provide specialist advice to Patient Support Services to assist in the development of strategic plans, initiatives and the management of organisational change to ensure the continued evolution of an improved service.
• Manage and review security operations by confirming operational requirements, monitoring workflow, preparing reports, and overseeing the development or updating of governance documents, including policies, procedures, SWPs, and training resources.
• Manage general administrative duties, including payroll and roster management, and ensuring compliance with best practice and relevant awards.
• Operate within budget allocations by managing the security rosters, including planning for annual and long service leave.
• Ensure Security provides a first-response presence for all emergency situations, including fire activations. Ensure Security offers personal protection to staff encountering aggressive or volatile situations during front-line health service delivery.
• Prioritise tasks and manage requests for security or emergency assistance in accordance with Queensland Health and CHQHHS policies, procedures, guidelines, and SWPs.
