About Us
Mount Morgan Central State School and Mount Morgan State High are both heritage listed, and are the only schools located in Mount Morgan, a town boasting immense historical significance. In 2012, the primary school celebrated 125 years of public education; the high school its centenary.
Mount Morgan (approximate population: 2500), located in the heart of central Queensland some forty kilometres south west of Rockhampton, has a rich appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. The traditional owners are the Gangulu people. Approximately thirty per cent of the student population identify as indigenous.
Mount Morgan Central and Mount Morgan State High are committed to the vision of establishing one educational precinct for this community; one that provides a high quality, individualised education for every young person from birth to work or tertiary learning. We recognise that aligned behaviour and attendance processes, and a strong pedagogical connection, enhances the transition of students from primary to high school. To complement this, both schools are committed to enhancing the relationship and partnership with other local agencies including the Mount Morgan child and family support hub and the Aboriginal and Torres strait islander community.
About the Role
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Build a shared vision for excellence: Lead the school community in developing and committing to a clear, shared vision that prioritises high-quality learning outcomes for every student.
- Lead with integrity, equity and high expectations: Uphold ethical and values-based leadership, embed socially just practices, and establish high standards for both student achievement and staff performance.
- Drive continuous improvement and professional growth: Promote a culture of lifelong learning, professional development, reflection and continuous improvement for all staff.
- Strengthen partnerships and community engagement: Build meaningful partnerships with parents, government agencies, community organisations, industry and business to support student learning and wellbeing.
- Lead strategically and manage resources effectively: Take a future-focused and strategic approach to school improvement, while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies and managing resources effectively to achieve identified goals.
