The Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach (Regional - Townsville) provides expert physical preparation support to athletes and coaches while coordinating the effective delivery of regional athlete support services.
Working collaboratively with QAS teams (Coaching and Talent and Performance Support), coaches, sporting organisations, regional partners and performance support practitioners, the position ensures athletes receive integrated, athlete-centred support aligned with Individual Athlete Performance Plans, sport pathway priorities and long-term performance objectives.
The position will contribute to the identification, development, monitoring and progression of athletes in regional Queensland, helping provide high-performance support closer to home and strengthening accessible pathways into elite sport.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Design, deliver and regularly review evidence-based strength and conditioning programs that support athlete development and performance outcomes in line with Individual Athlete Performance Plans, What It Takes to Win frameworks and agreed performance goals.
- Provide expert strength and conditioning advice and support to emerging, pre-elite and QAS-categorised athletes and coaches, identifying physical development priorities, performance targets and progression measures.
- Deliver performance testing, monitoring and evaluation activities, providing timely feedback, recommendations and reporting to athletes, coaches and performance support personnel.
- Coordinate the operational delivery of strength and conditioning services, maintaining accurate programming, monitoring and reporting records and generating insights that support athlete progression and program effectiveness.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary performance support teams to deliver integrated services based on each athlete's development needs, including regular engagement in the daily training environment.
- Lead, mentor and influence strength and conditioning practitioners where required, and contribute to building workforce capability and knowledge.
