Your new role:

As an Acute Surgical Unit Fellow, you'll provide quality medical care to surgical patients under the supervision and guidance of senior medical staff, with opportunities to contribute to clinical education, quality improvement and multidisciplinary care by:

• Assessing patients and arranging appropriate investigations, treatment and ongoing management.
• Providing inpatient and outpatient care, including discharge planning and clinical handover.
• Working collaboratively with consultants, junior medical staff, nursing and allied health teams.
• Performing appropriate procedures and maintaining accurate, comprehensive medical records.
• Participating in clinical meetings, tutorials, grand rounds and continuing postgraduate education.
• Supporting and guiding junior medical staff and contributing to their education and development.
• Contributing to quality assurance, research, innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

About you:

We're looking for a General Surgery Fellow who brings strong clinical capability and a commitment to patient-centred care, with skills and qualities including:

• Strong clinical skills and knowledge in general surgery.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• A patient-focused approach, demonstrating maturity, empathy and sound time management.
• A commitment to continuous learning, teaching and professional development.
• A strong focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement.
• The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Honesty, integrity and respect for patients, carers and colleagues.

To be successful in this role, you'll need a relevant medical degree, registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (General Surgery). Weekend and after-hours work will be required.

Logan Hospital is the major health centre for one of the fastest growing areas in Queensland. We offer a range of services, including medical, rehabilitation, maternity, surgical and paediatric care.
