As a Senior Child Safety Support Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of child protection services across a large and diverse geographical area. While not a frontline casework position, the role is integral to the successful operation of the service centre, providing critical administrative, financial, and operational support that enables Child Safety staff to deliver services to vulnerable children, young people, and families.

As a Senior Child Safety Support Officer you will:
• Effectively and positively engage with children, families, carers and service providers (including both government and non-government agencies) as required to support children and parents to meet their identified case plan goals.
• Provide individualised, high quality, and culturally appropriate supports to children and families subject to tertiary child protection intervention including but not limited to; facilitation of positive family connection, referrals and advocacy for services, parent coaching and support of transition from care plans.
• Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, children and parents to support the establishment and strengthening of effective safety and support networks, including connection to extended family and community.
• Provide high quality, comprehensive casework support and advice to assist in informing decisions about the safety and protective needs of children where complex child protection concerns are present.
• Participate effectively as a team member in a multidisciplinary team to deliver well-planned family support services to vulnerable children and families.
• Actively contribute to a culture of continuous learning, training and professional development, to ensure practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence based.
• Prepare and maintain quality case records in accordance with departmental case management requirements.
Your mandatory requirements
• It is mandatory to have a Blue Card (a current Working with Children Clearance issued by Blue Card Services) before you commence employment in this role. It is recommended that you lodge an application for a blue card as soon as possible to avoid any delays in commencement should you be offered a position with the department.
• The ability to undertake overnight (multiple nights at times) travel.
• Possession of a current “C” class driver licence.
Remote and Regional Incentive Scheme payment $5000.00 p.a., locality allowance and subsidised housing for eligible applicant - rent at $134/fortnight.
A requirement of the role is the ability to undertake overnight (multiple nights at times) travel.
