We are seeking compassionate, experienced and enthusiastic Teacher Aides to join our dedicated school team and support the learning, development, wellbeing and inclusion of students with diverse and complex needs. We are looking to fill temporary part-time/relief vacancies, as they arise for Term 4 2026.

As a Teacher Aide, you will work closely with teachers and other school staff to provide high-quality educational support and help create a safe, respectful and engaging learning environment where every student can participate and achieve.

About us:

Mount Isa Special School is set amongst the beautiful rugged red rolling hills with the industrial backdrop of a major Queensland mine operation.  We are the most remote and rural special school in Queensland.  Our school provides highly individualised programs based on the Australian Curriculum, for all students who are diagnosed with an intellectual disability and or multiple disabilities including physical, visual and hearing impairments and autistic spectrum disorders. Mount Isa Special School is committed to ensuring all of our students have the opportunity to learn and achieve the highest outcomes they can in a personalised learning program drawn from all areas of the school curriculum. 

Your opportunity:

• Contribute to the provision of a quality educational service by assisting and supporting teachers with the preparation and enhancement of learning materials and associated activities.
• This position forms part of a talent pool for upcoming part time and/or relief opportunities.

Responsibilities:

• Support teachers with classroom learning and preparation of resources.
• Provide individual and small-group support to students.
• Assist students with disability, including personal care and mobility where required.
• Support student wellbeing, safety, supervision and inclusion.
• Assist with literacy, numeracy, reading and practical learning activities.
• Maintain student records and assist with general classroom administration.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students and families.
• Maintain confidentiality, empathy, professionalism and respect.
