The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) is seeking a Manager to join the Infrastructure Unit. The Infrastructure Unit is responsible for providing specialist support and maintenance of the QCAA’s desktop, server, network and telephony environments. The Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Infrastructure Services Unit and ensuring the reliable, secure and effective delivery of QCAA’s ICT infrastructure services.

What you will do

In the Manager role, you will:

• Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of ICT infrastructure, including networks, data centres, servers, operating systems, and associated hardware.
• Advise and support the Director, ICT on major technical infrastructure policies and issues and represent the ICT on internal and external bodies as required.
• Coordinate the evaluation of new products and technologies and the preparation of subsequent reports/recommendations regarding implementation in order to best meet existing and future requirements.
• Manage responses to high-priority incidents and service disruptions, including activating escalation procedures, coordinating technical response, and maintaining open communication with affected stakeholders until resolution.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Infrastructure Services Unit including planning and organising work processes to ensure objectives are achieved.
• Contribute to developing and implementing policies, plans, strategies and procedures relating to ICT infrastructure implementation, maintenance and support. Liaise with QCAA project stakeholders to develop an in-depth understanding of infrastructure requirements in order to support business application requirements.
• Ensure that the reliability and availability of QCAA ICT infrastructure equipment. As well as create and maintain professional relationships and engage a wide range of stakeholders including business users, technical teams and school users through highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Manage functions, resources and budgets effectively and efficiently.
• Contribute to a performance management and development culture by participating in regular two-way feedback discussions with the Director, ICT, Team Leaders, and other staff across the Infrastructure Services Unit.
