About the role
As a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Consultant Psychiatrist), you will provide specialist psychiatric care across the Integrated Mount Isa Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Service (AODS), including the Homeless Health Outreach Team and outlying service areas across the lower Gulf. You'll provide clinical leadership to multidisciplinary teams, contribute to service planning and improvement, and support the delivery of safe, contemporary and culturally responsive mental health care.

Competitive remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value up to $620,673 p.a. comprising:
- Base salary ranges between $223,136 and $282,912 p.a. (L18-L27)
- Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual

Requirements
- An MBBS or equivalent to enable General Registrant or Special Purpose Registrant registration with the Medical Board of Australia, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) is mandatory.
- FRANZCP (Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists) or equivalent.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Psychiatry or other relevant clinical specialty with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association.
- Evidence of competency in speaking and communication in English.
- Completion of training for the Mental Health Act 2016 - Authorised Doctor/Authorised Psychiatrist prior to commencement.
- Experience in Addictions psychiatry highly desirable.
- An interest in the Public Health, particularly as it pertains to mental health in Indigenous and Rural and Remote communities.
- C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
- This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
- A period of probation may apply.
