Senior Property Officer

Forensic Property Point I Forensic Science Queensland

As a Senior Property Officer with Forensic Science Queensland, you'll help ensure forensic exhibits are managed safely, securely and accurately, maintaining the integrity and continuity needed to support forensic testing and court proceedings.

Your role:

  • Manage the receipt, registration, storage, movement, return and disposal of forensic exhibits and specimens.
  • Maintain accurate records and documented continuity to protect the integrity of forensic evidence.
  • Safely handle a range of forensic materials, including biological specimens, illicit drugs and other physical evidence.
  • Prioritise workloads and support efficient day-to-day operations within the Forensic Property Point.
  • Provide professional and responsive service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use laboratory and information systems to accurately record and track forensic exhibits.
  • Support quality assurance, audits and continuous improvement activities.
  • Share knowledge and support the training and development of team members.
  • Prepare continuity statements and provide evidence in court when required.

About you:

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity.
  • Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confident working independently and collaboratively within a busy team environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder service skills.
  • Comfortable following detailed procedures and handling sensitive forensic material and information.

You'll be working in a forensic environment where some exhibits and information relate to deaths and serious criminal offences and may be confronting or sensitive. Professionalism, confidentiality, resilience and respectful handling of forensic material are important requirements of the role.
