QRIC is seeking Principal Veterinary Officers (PO6) to help protect animal welfare and racing integrity across Queensland.

Opportunities are available in Rockhampton and other locations across the state, with both permanent and casual roles on offer.

In this role, you will:

- Provide on-track veterinary oversight of racing animals.

- Deliver expert advice on animal welfare and veterinary matters.

- Support investigations, inquiries and appeals.

- Work alongside QRIC Stewards, Compliance Officers and industry stakeholders.

There are currently three roles to be filled within in a Full-time Permanent capacity, Part-time capacity or Casual capacity.

Mandatory requirements

• A degree in Veterinary Science from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent academic qualifications that meet the requirements for registration as a veterinarian in Queensland.
• Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a visa permitting you to work in Australia. You must notify QRIC if your right to work in Australia ceases.
• A current drivers license to drive in Queensland.
• Completion of a conflict of interest declaration.
• Compliance with QRIC's mandatory gambling restrictions policy, which prohibits gambling on racing events in Australia and internationally, and requires declaration of all gambling account

Other information

• Newly appointed public sector employees must disclose any previous employment as a lobbyist within one month of commencing duty.
• Flexible work arrangements will be considered for this role.
• You may be required to travel to regional locations within Queensland.
• A three-month probationary period applies to successful applicants external to the public sector.
• The role may require work on weekends and outside standard business hours where reasonably required.
