You will influence the development and delivery of strategic partnerships, performance, reporting and governance activities across a broad range of stakeholders, covering the breadth of disaster and emergency management functions. This will occur through both high-level advice and practical application. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, government agencies, non-government organisations (NGO), local government and the private sector to ensure the best possible disaster management arrangements are in place to protect all Queenslanders.

Your key accountabilities include:
- Provide informed, proactive strategic advice to the Inspector-General of Emergency Management and to the Minister regarding performance, reporting, governance, policy and practice in relation to the operation of the Office of the IGEM and disaster management.
- Coordinate and provide strategic advice and expertise to ensure the effective delivery of services through the best use of Government resources (human, financial and capital).
- Develop, maintain and influence constructive working relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders including central agencies, key service providers, state and federal government agencies, and local government, to ensure the Office of the IGEM remains at the forefront of thinking in governance related matters.
- Lead the development, facilitation and delivery of key policy, planning and reporting initiatives and projects for the Office of the IGEM that support annual reporting, budget, strategic and operational planning, risk management and workforce development.
- Actively participate in the identification and resolution of emergent issues on behalf of the Inspector-General of Emergency Management and provide strategic and operational advice and support.
- Maintain professional knowledge and expertise in strategic governance in a disaster management context.
- Participate as an integral member of the Office of the IGEM leadership team, providing appropriate advice and supporting effective decision making.
- Lead and manage the Governance and Reporting team, including financial management, recruitment and selection, performance management, and coaching and development of staff in support of the Office of the IGEM's strategic objectives.
- Represent the Inspector-General of Emergency Management as required.
