About us:
Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (CQMHAODS) supports people across Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Banana — a community of more than 250,000 people.
With services across the region, including acute inpatient care in Rockhampton, Step Up Step Down in Gladstone and a Community Care Unit in Rockhampton, we provide support for people at different stages of their mental health and recovery journey.
We work alongside hospitals, health services, community organisations and private providers to help people feel better, build resilience and move towards recovery.
About the role:
- Connect and inspire. Build genuine connections with consumers, carers and staff, sharing your lived experience and showing that recovery is possible.
- Support recovery. Work alongside consumers to identify meaningful goals, explore recovery tools and turn their ideas into positive, achievable steps forward.
- Share knowledge and build connection. Support psychoeducation, consumer education and peer support groups, helping people learn, connect and feel empowered.
- Be part of the team. Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, gather consumer and carer feedback, contribute to a safe and supportive workplace, and take an active role in your own development.
About you:
- You have personal lived experience of mental health and recovery, and/or caring for someone with lived experience, and are comfortable sharing your story to support others. A Certificate III in Mental Health Peer Work (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Understand recovery and strength-based approaches and are passionate about helping people recognise their strengths, choices and possibilities.
- Great communicator who enjoys working with consumers, carers and multidisciplinary teams, and can confidently support groups and psychoeducation sessions.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, value the consumer voice and are keen to help improve services and create better experiences for people accessing mental health support.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $31,080 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $40.17 - $ 44.67 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
