The Foundation Residency Program offers early-career pharmacists the chance to rotate across Pharmacy units and multidisciplinary teams throughout CQHHS, gaining broad clinical experience and building confidence in practice.

You’ll receive structured mentoring and support while completing the accredited AdPhA Foundation Residency Program and developing towards Stage 1 of the Australian Advanced Pharmacy Practice Framework.

About us:

The Pharmacy Department at Rockhampton Hospital provides a comprehensive medication management service to inpatients, outpatients and day-admitted patients across the Hospital and Health Service. The service focuses on ensuring medications are supplied safely and appropriately, while supporting patients to understand and manage their medicines effectively. This includes dispensing prescriptions for outpatients, supplying medications to inpatients, conducting medication histories and reviewing medication charts to ensure accurate and appropriate treatment.

The Pharmacy Department also provides medication and drug information to healthcare professionals, offers therapeutic drug monitoring, and supports the education and training of healthcare staff and students. Overall, the service plays an important role in promoting the safe, effective and appropriate use of medicines throughout the patient's care.

About the role:

  • Work across different Pharmacy units and multidisciplinary teams on a rotational basis throughout Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service.
  • Undertake a supported, accredited two-year Pharmacist Residency Program designed to develop early-career hospital pharmacists.
  • Complete the mandatory requirements of the Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPhA) Foundation Residency Program with support from the Pharmacy Department.
  • Gain hands-on, practice-based experience and demonstrate progress through a professional portfolio, developing competence towards Stage 1 (Transition Level) of the Australian Advanced Pharmacy Practice Framework.
  • Build a strong foundation for further professional development and progression into advanced pharmacy practice and other career pathways.

About you:

  • A tertiary Pharmacy degree (or equivalent) and current AHPRA registration as a pharmacist, or eligibility for registration in Australia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and practical skills in pharmacy practice appropriate to their level of experience.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contribute positively and adapt to changes in the workplace.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with patients, families and healthcare professionals, with the ability to support and educate students and less experienced staff.
  • Ability to contribute to service improvement, plan and evaluate initiatives, and develop clinical supervision skills for supporting other staff.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $132,567 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $43.97 - $58.59 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
