About the work unit / facility

The TUH Transit Lounge is a designated area where patients can wait safely and comfortably before being discharged or transferred to another facility. Its primary purpose is to improve patient flow and operational efficiency by freeing up inpatient beds for new admissions. Patients who are clinically ready for discharge can move to the lounge while awaiting transport, medications, minor dressings or final paperwork, reducing delays in emergency department offloads and elective surgery schedules
