About us:

The Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service delivers specialist mental health and alcohol and other drug care to communities across Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Central Highlands and Banana regions. 

Our service is entering an exciting new phase with the opening of a new Adult Inpatient Mental Health Service at Rockhampton Hospital. This state-of-the-art 32-bed facility will expand inpatient care and include high and low dependency units, therapy spaces, administrative support spaces, indoor garden areas and safety and layout features for the wellbeing of consumers and staff.  

Working closely with inpatient, community and primary health partners, our multidisciplinary team takes an integrated approach to supporting the recovery and wellbeing of mental health patients. We are committed to delivering accessible, high-quality, recovery-focused care that makes a meaningful and lasting impact. 

About the role:

As an Allied Health Assistant, you'll be part of a fresh, modern inpatient mental health service where great care, teamwork and recovery are at the heart of what we do.

Working alongside allied health professionals and the wider multidisciplinary team, you'll help bring therapy programs and evidence-informed interventions to life, supporting people through their recovery journey.

You'll get involved in group programs, therapy activities, care pathways and patient engagement, helping deliver practical, person-centred support for people with complex mental health needs.

About you:

  • You're curious and capable. You have a good understanding of allied health, healthcare systems, medical terminology, basic anatomy and common health conditions. A Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or equivalent is a bonus.
  • You're a team player. You communicate clearly, work well with others and know how to use your skills confidently while staying within your scope of practice.
  • You're all about great care. You can deliver a range of assessments and treatments under the direction of an allied health professional, helping people stay engaged and supported in their recovery.
  • You like making things better. You're keen to contribute ideas, get involved in quality improvement and help find new ways to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $82,215 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $34,53 - $36.34 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
