The Office of the Independent Assessor (OIA) is seeking a skilled and motivated Data and Insights Officer to join our corporate team. In this critical role you will design, build and maintain Power BI dashboards and data visualisations to monitor complaint management performance and inform evidence-based decision making.

As the Data and Insights Officer, you will analyse and interpret complex operational data from the OIA's complaints management system (Resolve) and other organisational data sources to deliver meaningful insights that support evidence based decision-making.

Using tools such as Power BI, SQL, Microsoft Fabric and data modelling techniques, you will design, build and produce dashboards, regular reports and business intelligence solutions that support organisational performance, accountability and continuous improvement.

You will be able to communicate complex operational data in a clear and meaningful way, including by creating insightful data visualisations.

Working closely with management and staff across the OIA, you will identify complaint and operational trends, translate business requirements into practical reporting solutions and deliver recurring and ad hoc reporting that supports strategic and operational decision-making.

With a strong analytical mindset and attention to detail, you will investigate anomalies, validate reporting outputs and ensure data accurately reflects operational performance.

You will be driven to improve systems and reporting processes, contribute to the ongoing development of the OIA's reporting and analytics capability, and support initiatives that strengthen the organisation's capacity to deliver an effective and robust councillor conduct framework.

As a member of a small integrity agency, you will also contribute flexibly to organisational priorities and may provide analytical, project or operational support across business units, including complaint intake, complaint assessment and investigation functions, where required.

The successful applicant will have experience in:

  • Developing dashboards, reports and business intelligence solutions using Power BI, and related analytics tools.
  • Analysing and interpreting data from case management systems to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Investigating complex data issues, validating results and translating business requirements into practical reporting solutions.

Key role accountabilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and data visualisations to monitor complaint management performance, support organisational accountability and inform evidence-based decision-making.
  • Extract and model data from core systems (including Resolve) to track complaint trends, investigation timeframes, and operational performance metrics.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into meaningful, user-friendly reporting outcomes for the management team.
  • Collaborate with teams across the OIA to develop fit-for-purpose reporting and analytics solutions, while improving data quality, reporting processes and automation.
