This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior leader to play a key role in influencing safety and health outcomes across Queensland's coal mining industry.
As Deputy Chief Inspector of Mines (Coal), you will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Coal Mines Inspectorate and lead a team of experienced professionals responsible for delivering effective, consistent and contemporary regulation. Working closely with the Chief Inspector of Mines (Coal), you will help shape regulatory priorities, respond to emerging risks and support continuous improvement in safety and health performance across the industry.
A key focus of the role is bringing together technical expertise, sound regulatory judgement and strong people leadership. You will create an environment where people are supported to perform at their best, work collaboratively and confidently apply their expertise to achieve quality regulatory outcomes.
You will operate in a complex regulatory environment where achieving positive outcomes requires an appropriate balance of education, advice and enforcement. Building trusted and professional relationships will be critical, as you engage with industry, worker representatives, government agencies and other stakeholders on current and emerging safety and health issues.
