About us:
Gladstone Community Specialist Palliative Care provides specialist support to people and their families living with a life-limiting illness, with a strong focus on helping people remain at home where possible.
You'll work within a multidisciplinary team alongside nursing, social work and administration, and partner with GPs, specialist telehealth services and other health and community providers. The broader service supports communities across Central Queensland, with this role based in Gladstone.
About the role:
As a Clinical Nurse in Palliative Care, you'll provide specialist, person-centred care to patients and families navigating the last stages of life.
This is a permanent part-time role of up to 32 hours per fortnight, giving you the opportunity to use your clinical judgement and work with a high level of autonomy while remaining well supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Your work will include:
- completing comprehensive nursing assessments and developing care plans around the individual's goals and wishes
- managing Continuous Subcutaneous Infusions (CSCI)
- supporting and educating families to safely administer injectable medications at home
- coordinating care, referrals and access to other services
- using PCOC clinical assessments to recognise changes and support appropriate clinical escalation
- providing education and support to the broader palliative care workforce. Recruit Edits
It's a role where clinical expertise matters, but so does your ability to communicate calmly and compassionately with people and families during incredibly important and often difficult moments.
About you:
You'll be a Registered Nurse who is comfortable working autonomously, making sound clinical decisions and coordinating care across different services and disciplines.
We're looking for someone who can bring:
- strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and care planning skills
- confidence working independently while knowing when to escalate or seek support
- strong relationships with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams
- clear, compassionate communication, particularly when people are experiencing distress
- a commitment to safe, high-quality and person-centred care.
Palliative care experience is desirable, but not essential, so this could also suit an experienced nurse looking to develop their career in specialist palliative care. Current nursing registration with AHPRA is mandatory.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $58,918 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $57.76 - $61.85 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
Additional Benefits:
- Ongoing Professional Development and Education Opportunities
- Professional development leave and allowance
- Flexible Work-Life Balance and Variety
