As a Clinical Nurse – Geriatric Emergency Department Initiative (GEDI) at Redland Hospital, you will provide advanced clinical expertise and leadership in the assessment, management and coordination of care for older people presenting to the Emergency Department. You will play a pivotal role in supporting timely, person-centred care and achieving the best possible outcomes for geriatric patients and their families. You will:

  • Provide advanced geriatric nursing care, including early identification of eligible patients, mini-comprehensive geriatric assessment, frailty assessment, care planning and identification of goals of care.

  • Provide clinical leadership, expert decision-making and problem-solving, supporting high-quality nursing practice and acting autonomously within the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Contribute to education, research, quality improvement and service development, including clinical audits, data collection, benchmarking and evaluation of the GEDI model of care.

About you:

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse who brings advanced clinical capability, strong gerontic nursing knowledge and a passion for improving the care of older people.

  • You will have advanced clinical assessment, care planning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex geriatric presentations and provide evidence-based, person-centred care.
  • You will demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in gerontic nursing practice, with experience in an acute environment highly regarded, together with the ability to advocate for older people, their families and carers.
  • You will be a strong communicator and collaborator, able to build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams and coordinate care with internal and external healthcare providers.
  • You will demonstrate clinical leadership and a commitment to education, quality improvement and innovation, with the ability to support colleagues, contribute to practice change and promote best-practice care.

What we can offer you:

  • We offer a family-friendly work environment that supports you in making the most of Queensland's laid-back lifestyle.
