Deputy Principal - Sarina State School

We are seeking a dynamic, collaborative and values-driven Deputy Principal to support the Principal in leading our school community and delivering high-quality learning outcomes for every student. As the Deputy Principal, you will develop capacity of all staff with social and emotional learning, leading to improved student engagement through building a sense of belonging and connectedness to the learning environment. Build teacher capability in effective classroom management skill creating engaged, sae and supportive classrooms across the whole school. Implement MTSS framework to reflect the tiered supports for the social and emotional interventions for students.

This is a temporary full-time position commencing 21 January 2027 until 10 December 2027, unless otherwise determined.

About Us

Sarina is a small, rural, coastal town supported by industries including sugar, coal, beef, fishing, railways and a small commercial sector. Built on Yuwibara Country, Plane Creek Provisional School opened the doors to students on August 5 1897 and 15 years later, in 1912, this school became known as Sarina State School. Today, Sarina State School educates students enrolled in Prep to Year 6 with most students transitioning to Sarina State High School.

This environment, coupled with academic excellence, wellbeing and engagement and inclusive education challenges our students to dream big and aim high.

About the Role

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Support the Principal in leading the school community to develop and enact a shared educational vision that prioritises quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Deputise for the Principal as required, demonstrating ethical, values-based leadership and embedding socially just and inclusive practices across school life.
  • Promote high expectations for student achievement and staff performance while fostering a culture of lifelong learning, professional growth and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong partnerships with families, government agencies and community organisations to enhance student learning and strengthen community engagement.
  • Demonstrate strategic, future-focused leadership through sound knowledge of relevant legislation and policies, effective resource management and a commitment to achieving school priorities.
