This is a temporary, full-time opportunity until 30 June 2027. The role may be performed from a regional office and offers access to flexible working arrangements.

About the role

As Team Leader, Licensing Standards, you will oversee the delivery of licensing activities and provide direction on complex regulatory matters. You will support high-quality decision-making, monitor risks and ensure legislative, and policy requirements are applied consistently across the team. Working closely with stakeholders, you will also contribute to service improvement initiatives and help maintain effective and efficient licensing operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical leadership and oversight on complex licensing matters.
  • Supporting consistent application of legislation, policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Monitoring and managing regulatory, operational and reputational risks.
  • Driving quality assurance activities to strengthen decision-making practices.
  • Leading projects and initiatives that improve operational performance.
  • Building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About you

You are an experienced and supportive leader who can guide a team through complex regulatory, licensing, compliance or operational matters. You bring sound judgement, confidently interpret legislation and policy, and provide clear technical advice when decisions involve sensitivity, risk or external scrutiny.

You will also demonstrate:

  • experience leading, coaching and developing people in a complex environment
  • strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
  • the ability to identify and manage regulatory and operational risks
  • effective communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • confidence managing competing priorities while maintaining quality outcomes
  • a commitment to creating a positive, accountable and collaborative team culture
  • experience contributing to continuous improvement and successfully leading change.

Knowledge of the QBCC licensing and regulatory environment, or experience with suitability assessments, disciplinary matters, investigations, administrative decision-making, legislative implementation or system improvements, would be highly regarded. No mandatory qualifications are required.
