We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator to support schools in maintaining safe, healthy and supportive working environments.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.40FTE), 29 hours per fortnight.

Your opportunity:

  • Continuously improve the local implementation of the department's Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System (HSWMS) to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
  • Provide support to the nominated schools in health and safety including risk management, incident reporting and review and the rehabilitation and return to work coordination of ill or injured staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Compliance and Risk Management: Implement WHS policies, conduct audits and inspections, and manage workplace hazards.
  • Incident Management: Coordinate incident reporting, investigations and critical incident responses.
  • Staff Rehabilitation: Support injured or ill staff through early intervention and return-to-work processes.
  • Advice and Training: Provide WHS guidance and training to school leadership and staff.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Analyse WHS data, identify risks and recommend improvements.
  • Emergency and Fire Safety: Support emergency preparedness and fire safety compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with stakeholders to promote a safe, healthy and positive workplace culture.
