About us:

Rockhampton Hospital's Maternity Service is Central Queensland's main birthing hub, welcoming around 1,400 babies each year. From antenatal appointments and pregnancy education through to labour, birth, postnatal recovery and specialised newborn care, the team supports women and their babies at every stage of the maternity journey.

With a 15-bed antenatal/postnatal ward, five-bed Birth Suite and Level 4 Special Care Nursery, the service provides care for both routine and complex needs. We have it all here, we just need you!

About the role:

  • Provide compassionate, person-centred care to maternity patients, assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, comfort, nutrition and daily activities.
  • Support Registered Nurses and Midwives with delegated care activities, following clinical instructions and working within scope of practice.
  • Observe and promptly report changes in patients' conditions, behaviours and care needs to support safe, effective care.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and supportive environment while following clinical procedures, organisational policies and patient safety standards.

About you:

  • Compassion, empathy and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care to patients and their families; A Certificate III relevant to the clinical area is highly regarded.
  • Effective teamwork, honesty and respect, with a willingness to follow instructions, accept guidance and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • The ability to learn maternity unit routines, provide safe care within their scope of practice and work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Midwives.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm and a positive attitude, with a willingness to contribute to the smooth and safe operation of the maternity service.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $87,247 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $35.22 - $38.56 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
