Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) plays a central role in shaping Queensland's future, working with government, industry and communities to unlock land, accelerate housing supply and create opportunities for economic growth. As the Queensland Government's land use planning and activation agency, EDQ brings together planning, development and infrastructure expertise to deliver more homes, support investment and create places where Queenslanders can live and work.

With a significant role in supporting the delivery of 1 million new homes by 2044, EDQ is focused on overcoming complex development challenges, working in partnership with industry, and delivering outcomes at pace.

Leading a broad portfolio encompassing legal, human resources, governance, risk, communications and engagement, strategy, policy, executive services and organisational performance, the COO will play an important role in connecting corporate functions with EDQ's broader development and delivery agenda.

  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team on organisational priorities and key decisions.
  • Strengthen governance, risk management, corporate systems and organisational performance.
  • Lead Corporate Services, build organisational capability and foster a collaborative, accountable culture.
  • Drive service improvements, manage key stakeholder relationships and support EDQ's strategic priorities.

This is an opportunity to influence how EDQ operates, balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day delivery and ensuring the organisation is well positioned to achieve its housing and economic development objectives.

You are an experienced executive who brings a strong understanding of corporate operations, governance and organisational performance, together with the ability to operate strategically across a complex and evolving environment.

You will have led multidisciplinary corporate functions and bring experience across areas such as governance, legal, risk, audit, human resources, strategy and policy. Importantly, you understand how these functions work together to support organisational priorities and enable effective decision-making.

You have a demonstrated record of leading change, improving organisational capability and building teams that are accountable, collaborative and focused on delivery. You are comfortable navigating competing priorities, providing sound advice on complex matters and working closely with senior executives, Boards and stakeholders.

Your leadership style is practical and collaborative, with the judgement to know when to challenge, when to influence and when to act. You bring a whole-of-organisation perspective and a commitment to building a culture where people are empowered to contribute, innovate and deliver results.

Experience may have been gained across the public, private or not-for-profit sectors.
Relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.
This is an opportunity to contribute to the leadership of an organisation playing a significant role in Queensland's housing and economic development priorities. A legal background is of benefit but not a pre-requisite.
