We offer a wide range of subjects to prepare our students for the transition from school to their chosen future pathway.

Built with a strong reputation of caring for our students, our vision is to inspire growth, positive well-being and quality outcomes for all.

As a Positive Learning Behaviour school, we value and promote a learning environment where students are respectful, responsible and striving for excellence.

About the Role

Glenmore State High School is a large, diverse secondary school in Rockhampton, committed to high expectations, inclusive education and improved learning outcomes for every student. In this role, you will work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, support staff, students, families and external agencies to build staff capability and deliver targeted support for students with disability and students experiencing learning difficulties, particularly in English and Mathematics.

A key focus of the role will be the leadership of reading intervention across the school, including the development, implementation and monitoring of evidence-informed intervention programs that improve literacy outcomes for identified students. You will also provide leadership in the design and coordination of support for students with disabilities, ensuring reasonable adjustments, personalised planning and inclusive practices are embedded across classrooms and school processes.

The role includes significant curriculum leadership for students with learning difficulties, with a particular emphasis on supporting teachers to differentiate curriculum, assessment and pedagogy in Mathematics and English. You will use student data to inform intervention, monitor progress and guide responsive teaching practices that enable students to access and engage with the Australian Curriculum and senior secondary pathways.

You will also lead the school's quality assurance processes for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), ensuring documentation, evidence and school processes are accurate, consistent and aligned with departmental and national requirements. This includes building staff understanding of legislative obligations, inclusive education practices and the effective use of data to support student learning and participation.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of high-quality support and services through the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program to meet the diverse needs of students with disability.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to school leaders, classroom teachers and staff to develop and implement effective reasonable adjustments, targeted teaching interventions and individualised support strategies.
  • Coordinate case management and access to departmental and external specialist services, professional development and resources to support students requiring substantial or extensive adjustments.
  • Implement and monitor school-wide systems, including data collection and the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), while contributing to school planning, decision-making and professional learning.
  • Build collaborative partnerships with parents, government agencies and community groups, and effectively manage human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources to improve student outcomes.
