Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) is the Queensland Government's lead agency for tourism marketing, destination and experience development, and major events. We play a pivotal role in growing Queensland's visitor economy and showcasing the state to the world.
As Queensland enters a decade of significant opportunity, tourism and events will be important drivers of economic growth and regional prosperity. With increased government focus and the global attention of Brisbane 2032, TEQ is operating in an environment of unprecedented visibility and influence.
TEQ's success is built on strong relationships with government, industry, regional partners and communities. Our culture is collaborative, practical and outcomes focused.
About the Role
As Executive Director, Corporate Affairs and Engagement, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the functions responsible for protecting and enhancing TEQ's reputation, strengthening stakeholder relationships and ensuring the organisation remains connected and influential across government, industry and the broader community.
This is more than a communications or stakeholder engagement role. It is an executive leadership position spanning corporate affairs, government relations, issues management, stakeholder engagement, destination partnerships and organisational influence.
Working at the intersection of government, policy, reputation and strategy, you will shape conversations, inform decisions and influence outcomes.
You will work closely with Ministers, Ministerial Offices, government departments, regional tourism organisations, local government, industry and strategic partners to advance TEQ's priorities and respond to emerging opportunities, risks and stakeholder expectations.
You will lead TEQ's approach to reputation management and crisis and disaster communication, ensuring the organisation can respond confidently during periods of scrutiny or disruption.
As a member of TEQ's Executive Leadership Team, you will contribute to organisational priorities, culture, governance and performance while leading a multidisciplinary team.
About You
You are an accomplished executive who understands the power of relationships and the responsibility that comes with influence. You have worked in complex environments where expectations are high, competing interests must be balanced and trust is essential.
You bring the judgement to navigate ambiguity, the credibility to engage at senior levels and the confidence to provide advice when the stakes are high. Your experience may come from government, a statutory authority, industry body, government-owned corporation or another complex stakeholder environment.
You will bring:
• Significant experience engaging with senior government, industry and stakeholder leaders.
• Strong strategic judgement and ability to navigate politically and operationally complex environments.
• Experience leading reputation, stakeholder engagement, corporate affairs or related functions.
• Ability to identify emerging risks and opportunities and provide balanced, commercially informed advice.
• A collaborative leadership style that empowers others and builds high-performing teams.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with a calm approach under pressure.
• An enterprise mindset and genuine interest in contributing beyond your portfolio.
This is a full-time, four-year executive appointment based in Brisbane.
To apply, submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your skills and experience against the requirements above. Applications close 17 November 2026.
