• Provide high level practical and strategic advice and guidance to colleagues and clients on a broad range of contemporary human resource management through the interpretation of legislation, industrial instruments and/or policies etc.
• Partner with and support staff and managers in resolving complex workplace and staffing issues, across a broad range of areas including performance management, absenteeism, health/rehabilitation and long-term absence management and
independent medical examinations.
• Undertake research and analysis and report on key workforce data to assist with trend analysis and the development and implementation of key people management strategies.
• Establish and foster functional relationships with key stakeholders including Crown Law executives to ensure that HR related issues are identified and managed in a proactive way.
• Assist the Principal P&C Officer and Executive Manager to mentor and develop a small team of staff responsible for operational activities, including the provision of advice regarding all staffing movements and accurate payroll, leave and establishment processing by Crown Law's payroll provider.
• Together with the Principal Quality Officer & Legal Support Coordinator manage the legal support function across Crown Law including managing a legal support resourcing, staffing challenges, internal and external recruitment and other legal support activities as required.
• Together with the Executive Manager, manage and coordinate the requests/requirements for the review of staff on fixed term contracts of employment, higher duties and secondments under the relevant Directive.
• Maintain an understanding of contemporary human resource management practices as well as a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, industrial agreements/directives, policies and procedures and ensure that practices within teams are consistent with these.
• Contribute to the delivery of team strategic and operational deliverables identified on the Strategic Business Plan including preparing reports, submissions, briefing notes and other correspondence in relation to a range of P&C initiatives as requested.
• Assist the Executive Manager with ad hoc requests.
• Together with the Senior People and Culture Officer lead the Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) function for the practice including incident reporting, review, investigation and close out, hazard identification and risk assessment(s) and participation in working groups.
• In partnership with DJAGs People Capability and Culture Division provide guidance and direction to Crown Law managers, supervisors and officers on
applicable legislation, departmental policies and procedures, and complex HSW matters
