The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) is an independent statutory office established to protect the rights and interests of adults with impaired decisionmaking capacity, and children and young people in the child protection system and other visitable sites.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of regionally dispersed and office-based staff in the delivery of high quality, collaborative and integrated services to deliver a timely, responsive, and culturally appropriate service to clients in accordance with the functions of Community Visiting and Advocacy outlined in the Public Guardian Act 2014.
  • Undertake strategic analysis and provide advice on practice, service delivery and management of staff to improve operational performance.
  • Prepare and review briefing material, correspondence, and reports to inform senior and executive management or other entities of the strategic and operational performance of Community Visiting and Advocacy.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative and strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support and promote high quality service delivery and positive client outcomes.
  • Provide effective supervision of staff, including managers, to ensure ongoing professional development and the implementation and delivery of high-quality practice and service delivery standards.
  • Manage the financial and human resources within the team in accordance with relevant delegations, legislation, and directives.
  • Undertake or contribute to specific project development work and lead change positively to achieve outcomes

Mandatory role conditions:

  • Possession of a C class driver's licence is a mandatory requirement for this role.
  • A mandatory condition of this role is a Working with Children Check clearance (Blue Card). If you do not already have one, OPG will guide you on how to apply.
  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant work experience relating to social, health, behavioural sciences or related disciplines is desirable.
