Deputy Public Guardian

The Deputy Public Guardian is responsible for the leadership of multiple operational business units within the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), including those providing frontline services throughout Queensland. The Deputy Public Guardian takes a strategic approach to driving the operational service delivery activities of the OPG to ensure the requirements of the Public Guardian Act 2014, Guardianship and Administration Act 2000 and Powers of Attorney Act 1998 are met. The Deputy Public Guardian may also oversee project specific teams or roles from time to time.
This role is accountable to the Public Guardian and has multiple Director-level reports.

Your key responsibilities
• Lead delivery of OPG's strategic agenda, performance of business units and other project initiatives to drive excellence in service delivery.
• Drive a positive, future-focused organisational culture underpinned by genuine commitment to OPG values, inclusion and diversity.
• Drive the implementation of reforms on behalf of the Public Guardian to promote innovation and consistency across service delivery functions.
• Drive the development and implementation of business systems and practices to foster integrated and collaborative teams.
• Build the strategic decision-making capability and leadership competencies for managers, and the performance potential of all staff.
• Develop and manage productive relationships with government and non-government stakeholders to address major policy, service delivery and systems issues impacting OPG clients and staff.
• Provide strategic advice to the Public Guardian on issues concerning the Public Guardian's functions and powers.
• Represent the interests of OPG in significant external forums, meetings and negotiations on matters of strategic and operational significance to the OPG.
• Demonstrate cultural capability and a commitment to OPG's program of work to reframe the relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
There are no mandatory qualifications required for this role, however formal qualifications in law, public administration or human services would be highly regarded.
Mandatory role condition
A mandatory condition of this role is a Working with Children Check clearance (Blue Card). If you do not already have one, OPG will guide you on how to apply.
