Your Opportunity

As the Site Services Duty Officer you will:

  • Undertake activities associated with grounds/building maintenance, general cleaning and stores functions to provide an environment conducive to the achievement of quality services in a highly presentable form.
  • Assist the Site Services Coordinator in the daily services associated with facilities responsibilities to ensure the needs of the Region’s clients are met.

This position reports to the Site Services Coordinator.

This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity for 12 months unless otherwise determined. The successful applicant may be required to work until 6:00 PM. 

The position will be based primarily at our Bundaberg campus, however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety First, Working Together, Showing Initiative, Focussing on our Customer and Taking Responsibility.
  • Provide operational support across the campus through monitoring, prioritising and coordinating workflow processes including job tickets and reporting of potential WH&S and maintenance issues to maintain an effective, efficient and safe work environment.
  • Ideally, you will have a facilities or handyman/general maintenance background with excellent communications skills, be customer focused, a team player and physically capable to meet the demands of the position.
  • Undertake maintenance of regional properties, buildings and grounds including minor repairs. E.g. Light tubes, overhead projectors, audio visual equipment etc. to ensure that sites are highly presentable.
  • Organise the movement, relocation and delivery of equipment, goods and other items, including preparation, assembly and dismantling of materials and resources for displays and promotions associated with campus activities and class exercises as required.
  • Assist with contractor induction and undertaking safety observations specifically related to contractor activity.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are well maintained and tasks are performed in a safe and clean working condition.

How you will be assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  1. Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise available resources by determining priorities and processes to complete the requirements of the position.
  2. Demonstrated ability to analyse a situation and provide an appropriate, safe and timely response to meet expectations of the customer.
  3. Competency associated with the operation of grounds maintenance equipment, fork lifts, cleaning equipment and fire systems, and the ability to respond appropriately to a situation to provide effective solutions.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as a productive team member and interface with customers to achieve quality outcomes.
  5. Display the initiative, attitude and ability to thrive within a dynamic, challenging and changing environment.

Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements

  • C Class manual licence
  • First Aid Certificate

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Forklift Certificate licence
  • Experience with fire systems
  • Operational awareness of Health and Safety practices. 
  • Experience with Fire Warden activities
  • Background in working in trade environments
